Snorting inspiration
Snorting inspiration
Written by Gary Hughes
After the first line has been finished,the second swiftly follows up his nose,
the third; dilated pupils, raised heart
palpitations. He manages the fourth, although
after sneezing out the fifth, staining his shirt
with snotty blood, a sixth should be pointless.
As he stands up in the second stanza,
the words below become distanced;
proverbial passing ships.
Finally, he runs out of fingers (and thumbs)
to count the lines on. As the poem ends
there will be a fight over the last line.
