Steel City
Written by Steve Bucknell
Grey aisles of houses
curve up to the sky.
Molten dawns pour
down these streets
and cool
to steel-grey days.
This is a city
grafted onto the hills.
This is a city
of metal-fatigued faces
welded together
in the sunset lights
of a dying furnace.
This is a city
of hard, tempered hearts
beating out
the flat grey sheets
of leaden days.
